What is Taxotere?

Sanofi SA manufactures Taxotere. Taxotere is a chemotherapy drug used to treat the following types of cancer:

  • Breast cancer
  • Non-small cell lung cancer
  • Advanced stomach cancer
  • Head and neck cancer
  • Metastatic prostate cancer

The drug is administered intravenously through a vein and reduces the growth and spread of cancerous cells. It interferes with the cancer cell’s ability to divide. Taxotere is also used to treat advanced stage breast cancer that is not responding to other drugs, advanced stage breast cancer that has spread to other areas of the breast or body after treatment with standard chemotherapy medicines, and early stage breast cancer that has spread to the lymph nodes after surgery.

Common Taxotere side effects include the following:

  • Low white blood cell count
  • Fluid retention
  • Alopecia
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Bone or joint pain
  • Neuropathy
  • Constipation

Premedication is used before administering Taxotere in order to reduce fluid retention and allergic reactions. If you experience any of the above mentioned side effects after taking Taxotere, seek immediate medical assistance. You may be entitled to compensation depending on the nature of your injury.
